Textiles: Fish Mobiles
Yes Group 3, you have now all earnt your sewing machine licences! Congratulations. This means that we are ready to get our teeth into some production. To link with our work in MESH on ‘Healthy Catchments: Healthy Oceans’ we are creating fish mobiles. We will begin by investigating and desgining, then we will start sewing our fish mobiles, finally we will evaluate our work. Healthy Catchments Healthy Oceans
Since beginning the water unit we have learnt about catchments and drainage basins in Victoria. Last week we completed a puzzle of all the drainage basins in Victoria. We have just finished creating Overlay Maps of the Corangamite Catchment (Geelong is a part of this catchment area). Writing Myths and Spelling Books
This week we have begun writing our first drafts of our own myths. You should have previously planned and invented mythical characters. To get some ideas for creating your own mythical character see this web site: http://www.eaudrey.com/myth/index.html
Each student in the novice group now has their own spelling book. Today each student added words that they have trouble spelling to their spelling book. You all need to practice these words as we will have a spelling test this Thursday.
Poetry
Hi groups 2 and 5, we have started a unit on poetry. So far we have looked at the 3 features of poetry: Rhythm, Rhyme and Visual Images.
