Here is your major assessment task for our poetry unit: Poetry Folio Assignment

Hi Groups 2 and 5. This is you assessment task for Poetry. Click on this link to read or download the Poetry Assignment. Group 5 has already began this assignment and Group 2 will be beginning after we look at the use of ‘Sound Images’ in poetry – Alliteration, Assonance and Onomatopoeia.

Hi groups 2 and 5, we have started a unit on poetry. So far we have looked at the 3 features of poetry: Rhythm, Rhyme and Visual Images. We have discussed rhyming patterns, written limericks, taken notes on similes, metaphors and personification and written poems with these features. To get the notes and activities for these topics see me in  person. 

On the last day of term both groups 2 and 5 began presenting their persuasive speeches. All speeches were of a very good standard. Some students were very convincing in both their use of voice, body language and the arguments and evidence that they presented. For those of you who have not presented yet, we will be doing more presentations after the holidays. The speeches are being assessed by myself as well as by you. Each student has created their own rubric to mark three other students’ speeches. If you have been away and haven’t created your own rubric yet get it here: Blank Persuasive Speech Rubric.  Just fill in with dot points the features of a practitioner, apprentice and novice speech.
